Tiger Eye was founded by Niran Wisetsang, Panop “Note” Udomkaewkanjana and Bashir Ahmad, a former professional MMA fighter and ONE Championship executive. When Thailand launched the DTV in 2024, Tiger Eye was among the first gyms to guide people through it, and we have done so ever since. Today that experience runs through our own in-house DTV department.

What the DTV Muay Thai Visa Lets You Do

The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is a long-stay visa for people taking part in recognized activities in Thailand, including Muay Thai training. These are the practical advantages it offers over standard tourist and education visas.

01

A Single Visa Instead of Repeated Renewals

Standard tourist visas run in short blocks that need regular renewals, border runs, and adjustments when the rules shift. The DTV replaces that cycle with one five-year approval, so you can plan your stay around a fixed timeframe rather than the next deadline.

02

Leave and Return as Often as You Need

As a multiple-entry visa, the DTV lets you leave Thailand and come back whenever you want, for work trips or travel. Each entry allows a stay of up to 180 days, and a short trip out of the country starts a fresh 180-day period on your return. You are not tied to one continuous stay or made to extend from inside Thailand.

03

Remote Work for Overseas Employers Is Allowed

You can work remotely for employers or clients based outside Thailand while you live here. The visa does not permit employment with Thai companies, which makes it a fit for remote workers, freelancers, and the self-employed rather than anyone looking for local work.

04

No Mandated Minimum Training Attendance

There’s currently no set minimum training attendance for this visa category. Once enrolled, you decide how often you train and fit it around work and travel. Policies can change, so participation remains your own responsibility.

Who the Muay Thai DTV Visa Is For

This is for you if

  • You plan to make Thailand a long-term base, not just visit
  • You can support yourself through ongoing income or sufficient savings
  • You are open to authentic Muay Thai training during your stay in Thailand

This is NOT for you if

  • You only need a short stay or a one-off extension
  • You are looking for a job with a Thai employer
  • You have unresolved immigration or legal matters in Thailand

What You Need to Qualify for the DTV Visa

Qualifying through the Muay Thai route comes down to four requirements, and we handle one of them for you.

  • Apply from outside Thailand. You submit your application through the Thai e-Visa portal, at the Thai embassy or consulate of the country where you are a citizen or permanent resident. Applications cannot be made from inside Thailand.
  • Provide a police clearance certificate. Issued by that same country, confirming you have no serious criminal record. Processing time varies, so it is worth requesting early.
  • Show at least ฿500,000 in personal savings. That is roughly $15,000 or €14,000, held in your own account as proof of funds. Most embassies want to see the balance held for at least three months.
  • Enroll in a recognized Muay Thai program. This produces the enrollment certification the embassy requires, and it comes with your training at Tiger Eye, so it is the one requirement you do not have to source elsewhere.

Not sure if you qualify? Our free eligibility check walks you through it in one minute.

How We Get You from Consultation to Approval

From your first consultation to embassy approval, the process is straightforward. Depending on your package, we either guide you through it or handle the entire application on your behalf.

01

Book a Free Consultation

We review your situation, confirm your eligibility, and outline a clear path to approval. The consultation is free and there’s no obligation to enroll afterwards.

02

Choose Your Training Package

Pick the package that fits your goals and your stay. Each package includes a different level of application support, so you decide how hands-on you want us to be.

03

Submit Your Information

After enrollment, you provide the documents we need to prepare your paperwork. A simple form, nothing more, and we’ll walk you through anything that’s unclear.

04

Request Your Police Clearance Certificate

While we prepare your paperwork, request your police clearance certificate from the country you are applying through. Starting it now keeps it from holding up your submission later.

05

Receive Your Official Documentation

Within two business days of receiving your information, we issue the official enrollment certification and supporting documents you need to submit your application.

06

Apply at a Thai Embassy or Consulate

You now have everything required for your DTV submission. Depending on your package, we file the entire application on your behalf, or guide you through doing it yourself.

Application outcome: Once approved, you enter Thailand under the DTV and start your training. If your application is refused, you can reapply or, on eligible packages, request a refund under our refund policy.

Where You’ll Train: Tiger Eye in Ari, Bangkok

Tiger Eye is a licensed training facility, not a visa office with a gym attached. Muay Thai is the core, and we also run Western Boxing, MMA and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). The coaching focuses on personal attention, so sessions suit complete beginners as much as experienced practitioners, including professionals fitting training around work.

A practical base in Ari

Our gym is in Ari, a district in central Bangkok known for its cafés and a settled expat and remote-worker crowd. Ari sits on the BTS Skytrain line, so the rest of the city stays easy to reach.

How We Compare to Your Other Options

Most DTV applicants choose between a visa agent and a regular Muay Thai gym that offers a training package. The difference between us and them comes down to who actually issues your certification, who provides the training, and who handles the rest.

Muay Thai DTV Visa FAQs

Is training mandatory?

Enrollment in a licensed program is a formal requirement to qualify under the Soft Power category. Tiger Eye provides official certification, documentation support, and access to world-class Muay Thai training facilities. Participation is expected; however, your specific schedule and training intensity remain your responsibility. Currently, Thai authorities do not monitor individual attendance records for DTV holders. We provide the training environment — how you engage is up to you.

Is previous training experience required?

Not at all. Tiger Eye welcomes everyone — from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Sessions are designed to give personal attention, so you can learn and progress at your own pace in a supportive, professional environment.

How long is the visa valid?

The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is valid for five years. It is a multiple-entry visa that allows stays of up to 180 days per entry. After each 180-day period, you simply exit and re-enter Thailand to start a new stay period.

What are the financial requirements?

Applicants must show proof of at least 500,000 THB (approximately $15,000 / €14,000) in personal savings to meet government requirements. Step-by-step guidance on the required documentation is provided on our informational page.

Can I apply for the DTV while inside Thailand?

No. Applications must be submitted from outside Thailand. You apply at the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate of the country where you are a citizen or permanent resident, and that country also needs to issue you a police clearance certificate as part of your application.

Who makes the final visa decision?

Visa approvals are issued solely at the discretion of the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate where you apply. Tiger Eye is an authorized training provider that facilitates official enrollment certification and administrative support — we are not a visa-issuing authority.

What will happen if my Muay Thai DTV application is not approved?

Refund details depend on the specific training package you select. Full details regarding our refund policy and document auditing services are outlined on our packages page.

Can I work in Thailand on this visa?

The DTV is not a traditional Thai employment visa and does not allow work for Thai companies. It is intended for remote workers, digital nomads, and individuals participating in recognized “Soft Power” activities such as Muay Thai. Remote work for overseas employers is generally permitted.

Which embassy should I apply to for a Muay Thai DTV Visa?

You apply at the Thai embassy or consulate of the country where you are a citizen or permanent resident. That country also needs to issue you a police clearance certificate as part of the application, so it is worth starting that early.

What was the reason for the 4% of applications that were refused?

Of the few applications that were refused, most came down to one of these reasons:

  • Nationality. Some embassies are stricter with applicants of certain nationalities.
  • A criminal record. Even an old offense on a police certificate can lead to a refusal.
  • Errors in the documents. For example, a misspelled name or details that don’t match.

Some of these applicants reapplied and were approved. In a few cases, the embassy didn’t give a reason. That’s why we check your eligibility before you pay, and we’re honest with you if your chances don’t look good.

If you’re ready to move from research to reality, book a free enrollment consultation. In this 30-minute call we review your eligibility, answer your questions, and map out a clear plan for your DTV application. No charge, no obligation.
